About

Glad you found your way to Yaga's Hut, a place to gather my illustrations and give space to characters that rarely appear in mainstream culture: gods, spirits, and creatures from Slavic folklore. Each drawing is my way of exploring their symbolism while experimenting with style and atmosphere.

My name is Jelena Matejić, and I live in a small town near Zagreb, Croatia. I love hiking and spending time in nature. Walking forest paths, listening to old stories, and imagining what might still hide between the trees quietly shapes the world of Yaga's Hut.

Outside of Yaga's Hut, I work full-time as a UX and product designer. If you'd like to see that side of my work, you're welcome to visit my personal website. Illustration, however, gives me space for stories, creatures, and brushstrokes that follow rules of their own.

Yaga's Hut isn't an encyclopedia, and it isn't an attempt to reinvent Slavic folklore. My hope is to create a place where these stories can be experienced with the same sense of mystery they once carried, and where each illustration encourages someone to wander a little further it's remarkable world.
